Do You Know the Secret Cybersecurity Handshake?
This week's podcast episode of the CISO/Security Vendor Relationship Podcast
Do You Know the Secret Cybersecurity Handshake?
Co-host Mike Johnson and our guest Taylor Lehmann, CISO, Wellforce, discuss the following:
Should CISOs be on the Board of Directors? While it's increasingly important for a company to exhibit cybersecurity savviness, that may not necessarily be the board's responsibility. It's important for the board to understand risk and security concerns, but for a CISO to make fiduciary judgements, that's just not their expertise. That is the job of the board.
Healthcare CISOs calculate safety, not just cybersecurity. Healthcare offers and sells the product of safety. But it's a right, not a competitive differentiator. Traditionally, security doesn't deal with the physical health of a person. But as more medical devices are connected to the Internet it can and will become an issue.
Culture is the key to fixing security. Instead of tacking on more solutions to make ourselves more secure, look within to see how you can reduce where we're most vulnerable. Creating an agile development environment is a great place to start.
