This week's episode of CISO/Security Vendor Relationship Podcast

Trust Me, We're Using "Advanced" AI

Trust Me, We're Using "Advanced" AI

was recorded in front of a live audience at Evanta's CISO Executive Summit in San Francisco. Joining me on stage was my co-host, Mike Johnson, and our guest Jimmy Sanders, head of information security, Netflix DVD. We all discussed:

What does it take to trust AI?

There is some artificial intelligence (AI), such as spam filters, that we do trust. Why is it so hard to trust other types of AI? It may be because most AI solutions are destructive in the sense that you never see alternative results. A spam filter just puts the "bad data" in another bucket.

Hoarding data will become a privacy concern.

Marketers understandably want to collect as much data as possible. But if you take in more than you need, you may run into serious privacy issues.

Do security people take ownership of incidents?

Most, if not all security people, have experienced "incidents." They may be breaches, or something less severe. Ask a potential security candidate how they handled an incident. It can be very telling. Are they poised in their retelling? Did they handle the situation methodically? And did they take ownership of the issue rather than claiming it was someone else's mistake.
